Kids Take Over The Library!

Last week, we hosted two exciting programs as part of the “Dream Big: Read!” summer reading program . . . especially if you were a young budding engineer or princess!

July 16 was the 2nd Annual Lego Extravaganza, with about 40 builders ages 3 to 14 creating everything from Lego dog houses to Star Wars’ Millennium Falcon. Proud parents hovered by the creations while the judges awarded “Certificates of Awesomeness” in various categories to 30 creative Lego architects!

Two days later, pink-clad princesses enjoyed a “Fancy Nancy” story time & tea party. Miss Linda read several of the Fancy Nancy picture books, and led a fashion show and parade, complete with tiaras and boas.  Our princesses created their own butterflies with lots of glitter and checked out stacks of picture books.  At the close of the ‘fancy’ festivities, 26 little girls enjoyed butterfly cookies and sparkly cupcakes.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our summer reading revelries in the library! Our Summer Reading Program ends this week, but any readers are welcome to bring their book lists to the desk for final prizes.
